ASHTANGA YOGA RETREAT
WITH SIMONE NITZAN AND CARLA INTERIOR
2 – 9 July , 2022
Description of the retreat
The connection between the body and mind has been well documented and researched. We know the two are intimately connected, and we know that moving our bodies helps us access different aspects of our minds. When our bodies are strong, healthy and move well, our minds find greater ease, and when we work on the mind, it impacts how we feel in our bodies.
This retreat will bring together a variety of practices from yoga asana, pilates, yin yoga, restorative yoga, chanting, meditation and breathing to cultivate a sense of ease physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
Simone and Carla have been teaching for several years and bring together a unique blend of physical, philosophical and subtle practices. They blend ancient wisdom with modern life, and their teachings focus on how your practice can serve you in your life.
This retreat will leave you feeling rejuvenated, strong and capable of taking on physical and mental challenges.

The experience of consciously and fluidly linking the breath and movement inspires Simone in her practice and teaching. Her personal practise informs her teaching, and she draws on elements of vinyasa, science-based alignment and mindful movement in her led classes. She believes practicing yoga leads to a meditative state and expands our awareness of ourselves. Her classes bridge awareness of the breath with the alignment of the body and mind. When we’re in a state of yoga, the qualities of effort and ease are harmoniously balanced.
Simone is a mother, anatomy and yoga teacher, massage therapist and yoga student for life. She has been teaching since 2009 in various workshops and retreats in North America, Europe and Asia. She is currently based in Toronto and co-founder of the online yoga studio Marigoldyoga.ca.
Simone brings her expertise in anatomy and physiology into the yoga room, where she works to inform her students how to safely and sustainably work with their bodies through Yoga Asana, the breath and other energetic elements of the practice. She believes yoga can help heal physical and emotional injury, and she works with her students to find the unique practices that work for each of their body-minds.
Born in Manila, raised in Toronto Carla completed her first yoga teacher training in Thailand and shortly after found her voice to teach yoga with confidence. Carla’s classes will encourage you to get intimate with your body and mind. Her time spent adjusting students in their self-practice gives her a different approach to her led classes, providing modifications to help achieve their personal goals. Eager to learn more, she took her first Pilates Teacher Training with Leslie Parker at Mindful Movement Centre. Leslie focused on therapeutic methods of rehabilitating injuries which inspired Carla to teach in a more meaningful way. She strives to empower her students to strengthen and care for their bodies, helping them develop a pilates practice to support their unique bodies and physically demanding lifestyles. You can look forward to increased joint mobility as well as an overall sense of calm and balance in her Pilates & Yoga classes.
