PRACTISING WITH JOY WITH CLAIRE BERGHORST

15 – 22 June 2024

Description of the course

Join us at Yoga in Salento to embark on a journey of infusing your practice with joy.

Balancing the fundamental concepts of yoga, to create harmony between sun and moon energies, masculine and feminine, yin and yang.

Ashtanga vinyasa yoga is a deeply personal practice. Sometimes we practice alone at home, sometimes we step into a shala and share our practice and our vulnerabilities with others. Sometimes we can get a little stuck and just as in life, we find ourselves in a hamster wheel of grasping for more…

During this week of self-discovery at the beautiful Yoga in Salento we’ll delve down a rabbit hole of energy systems drawing inspiration from Yoga and Traditional Chinese Medicine. This inquiry and ‘re-learning’ to feel and be curious in postures as in life, we’ll find harmony and spark joy into our practice.

Expect to feel grounded and lifted in equal measure; to get curious about the internal pathways of movement within your own body as you learn to feel and move afresh.

During the retreat all practitioners are welcome, whether you are flying through an advanced series, just learning the standing poses or working with an injury or mental setback.

We will have a combination of counted classes fusing group energy and Mysore style, allowing Claire to support each of you individually.

The retreat will also include 3 afternoon workshops where we will have the opportunity to be curious and explore topics from the all the important foundations to finding a soft fluidity in backbends and bringing our pranayama practice into action.

Claire has practiced Ashtanga yoga daily since her early twenties.

During that time, life has flowed with abundance, becoming a wife, a mother and completing the Ashtanga 4th series.

As life flows it includes everything, the highs and the lows, and hence her practice has vacillated between fiery highs and sweet softening.

Claire’s approach is very much one of holding and supporting, teaching with kindness and compassion. Practicing for any extended duration has to include it all… ‘

Practice, practice do your practice and all is coming..’. Claire is passionate about enabling students to create a practice for life, one that is there to support you through it all.
