Description of the retreat
Giuseppe and Cinzia bring an important message to their teaching: Ashtanga Yoga is truly a practice for everyone, regardless of the practitioner’s physical or psychological condition. With their understanding and experience, they effectively tailor the practice to each student, from the most senior to the novice. They work with integrity and attention to facilitate in each individual the deep connection that is created between the body and breath. In this way, Yogasana truly becomes a gateway to listening and meditation, a foundational part of the journey to gaining awareness of Yoga.
Each morning begins with the chanting of Mantras and a seated meditation, followed by the Mysore Style accessible to all levels of practice. After the practice, the group reconvenes for brunch, freshly prepared every morning, socializing and planning the rest of the day, including massages, treatments, and exploring the hidden treasures of the Salento region.
The afternoon practice is structured like a workshop to delve into various aspects of the practice: from pranayama to philosophy to technical aspects tailored to the participants’ needs. Afternoon practices are held on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. On other days, there is more time for outings and excursions.
The day concludes with an evening meditation after dinner, except for Friday night, which is ‘party time’: Music, conviviality, and good vibes. The retreat concludes after Saturday morning’s breakfast, with a final conference, moments of sharing, and farewells.
The message that Gius and Cinzia convey to Dharma Shala in Lissone and in their retreats is the importance of cultivating a deep inner connection through yoga and meditative practice. This inner journey is fundamental, as only by building a positive relationship with oneself can meaningful relationships with others be built.

Giuseppe and Cinzia were introduced to Ashtanga Yoga respectively by Notorius senior ashtanga teacher Lino Miele and senior ashtanga teacher Elena De Martin.
In 2016, they opened Dharma Shala in Lissone, Italy (www.ashtangayogamonzabrianza.it) where they teach regularly and host yoga workshops and intensives.
They are currently direct students of Sharat Jois, at the main Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga center in Mysore, India. For many years, they have regularly visited Sharat’s school to deepen their understanding of the discipline.
Giuseppe is an authorized teacher by Sharath Jois of the Sharath Yoga Center (SYC) in Mysore, India (Sharath Yoga Center – Authorized Teachers).
In the last 13 years of study and practice in Mysore, their primary reference teacher has been Sharath Jois R., along with Susanna Finocchi, Peter, and Gabriele Severini.
During their stays in India, Giuseppe and Cinzia learned the technique of Transcendental Meditation (TM) and the study of Indian scriptures through chanting, philosophy, and Sanskrit.
In their school, they passionately continue the teaching of the practice, drawing inspiration from the teaching approach and human qualities of Gabriele Severini, Susanna Finocchi, and Peter Sanson. They continue to deepen and refine their practice by periodically inviting these senior teachers to Dharma Shala.
