Description of the retreat
Mindfulness or awareness means paying attention at the present moment. It can also be described as a way to cultivate
a full presence in the experience of the moment, to the here and now.
It is a skill that we all have, but that we have generally exercised very little in life. In fact, we spend most of our time acting as “automatically”, prey to our thoughts: we worry about what may happen to us in the future or we get lost in remorse and ruminations on what happened in the past. And we are never in the present. If then we are experiencing a stressful situation, be it a disease, chronic pain, discomfort at work or a family problem, the situation worsens. And to the stress itself we add the load of constant negative thoughts that torment us. Mindfulness proves useful precisely in these situations. Not because it heals us, eliminates pain or magically solves every problem, but because it changes our approach and our way of being with that pain, with that difficulty or with that specific stress. Through the “practice” of Mindfulness we can get to increase our resilience to stress.
Through this path you will learn to observe the sensations of the body, thoughts, emotions by letting the experiences flow freely from moment to moment and accepting them as they are. This allows you to discover a new way of being in relationship with stressful situations, no longer reactive and automatic, but free from conditioning, more peaceful and aware.
