Meditation, Sutra & Asana
with Gregor and Monica
Pranayama, Yoga Sutra and Asana Module with Gregor in Italy
Meditation, Sutra & Asana with Gregor and Monica
We are excited to announce our new European Teacher Training. This training consists of four individual week-long modules with each providing 45 hours of tuition.
You can participate in each module without completing the whole training. Students who wish to gain deeper knowledge about a particular subject rather than wanting to teach are welcome.
Each module will be taught by either Gregor or Monica, or by both of them. Each full day will comprise of 7.5 hours of tuition.
The modules are spread over a period of approximately 18 months. Future modules may or may not take place at this same venue. Due to availability of suitable venues we may not always be able to stick to the above schedule but we will do our best. Each module can only be booked on its own (i.e. you cannot book the whole training in advance) and we cannot guarantee the price of future modules due to possibly fluctuating seasonal accommodation and currency prices. We will do our best, however, to achieve comparable pricing.
When opening upcoming modules for booking and before advertising them through social media and newsletters we will first inform existing trainees that they may reserve a spot by paying the respective deposits.
In case you do miss out a module it is likely to be repeated after approximately 2 years unless there is insufficient interest or we become unable in any way to deliver the module.
We are aware that students enrolled in existing modules are concerned about missing out on spots in upcoming modules. If modules book out early we will try to create more spots by shifting modules to larger venues or by offering them more frequently.
Gregor Maehle – BIO:
Gregor Maehle began his practice of Raja Yoga in 1978 and added Hatha Yoga a few years later. In the mid-1980s he commenced annual travels to India, where he studied with various yogic and tantric masters, traditional Indian sadhus and ascetics. After practising with BKS Iyengar he spent fourteen months in Mysore, and in 1997 was authorised to teach Ashtanga Yoga by K. Pattabhi Jois. Since then he has branched out into researching the anatomical alignment of postures and the higher limbs of yoga. He gained his anatomical knowledge through a Health Practitioner degree and has also studied history, philosophy and comparative religion.
In India Gregor also received eight months of mostly one-on-one instruction in scripture and the higher limbs of Yoga through B.N.S. Iyengar, a student of T. Krishnamacharya, and he studied Sanskrit under Professor Narayanachar and Dr. Chandrasekhar. He lived for several years as a recluse, studying Sanskrit and yogic scripture and practicing yogic techniques. Together with his wife, Monica, in 1996 they founded 8 Limbs in Perth, Australia, which they co-directed for 21 years. They now live in a rain forest in the hinterland of Byron Bay where they conduct occasional Teacher Training Immersions.
Gregor’s internationally acclaimed textbook series consisting of Ashtanga Yoga: Practice and Philosophy, Ashtanga Yoga: The Intermediate Series, Pranayama: The Breath of Yoga, Yoga Meditation: Through Mantra, Chakras and Kundalini to Spiritual Freedom and Samadhi The Great Freedom – have sold more than 75,000 copies worldwide and have been translated into seven foreign languages. Further volumes are in progress. He has been invited to many countries to teach and has contributed to and been interviewed by numerous yoga magazines.
Today he teaches an anatomically sophisticated interpretation of traditional vinyasa yoga, integrated into the practice of the higher limbs in the spirit of Patanjali and T. Krishnamacharya. His zany sense of humor, his manifold personal experiences, and his vast and deep knowledge of scripture, Indian philosophies and yogic techniques combine to make his teachings applicable, relevant and easily accessible to all his students. Apart from offering with Monica Teacher Trainings and Immersions in Melbourne, Perth, Tokyo, Byron Bay and Bali, Gregor also teaches retreats and workshops in various locations around the world.
